

THE FIRST AND SECOND WORLD WARS IN FRANCE THIS TOUR IS GIVEN AS AN EXAMPLE ONLY for schools wishing to organise 2 - 3 weeks in France around a specific theme or themes. For example : visiting the most important historical sites in France from the two World Wars, followed by a few days in the Loire Valley. THIS EXAMPLE IS GIVEN ESPECIALLY FOR AUSTRALIAN SCHOOLS

Two suggestions are given here : 14 days & 17 days
First option : 14 days - PARIS & THE WORLD WARS BATTLEFIELDS.
Days 1 - 5 in Paris. Coach transfer from the airport, half board accommodation in youth hostel situated in the historical centre of Paris, pass for unlimited transport inside Paris, all other tranfers and transport for visits outside Paris included. Visits and activities pre-booked and included : the Louvre, the Invalides (Army museum and Napoleon's tomb) and Orsay museums, the Sainte Chapelle and the Conciergerie, a whole day in Versailles, up the Arc de Triomphe for the view, a cruise on the Seine, Notre Dame and climbing its towers, to the top (3rd level) of the Eiffel Tower, discovery of Montmartre.
Days 5 - 14 Coach tour of the battlefields & sites of the two World Wars. The tour includes : whole day in Verdun right bank and left bank (specialist guide), the Maginot line (Fort de Fermont), Peronne Historial, Villers-Bretonneux and the Australian Memorial, the Somme battlefields, the Flanders Fields Museum and the battlefields round Ypres (with specialist guide), attending the Last Post, visit the Caen Memorial, a whole day devoted to the Normandy Landing (with specialist guide).
Other activities : visit of a Champagne cellar in Reims, Monet's garden in Giverny, Rouen, the Bayeux Tapestry, and the Mont Saint Michel
Half-board accommodation in Verdun, Lille and Bayeux hostels. Direct return by coach to airport.
Second option : 17 days - Paris, the Battlefields and the Loire Valley
Days 1 - 5 : same programme as above for Paris.
DAYS 5 -13 : same programme as above, but after the visit to Mont Saint Michel (Day 13), drive to Saint Malo. Boat trip round St Malo bay.
Day 14 : to Saumur to visit the national tank museum. (Plus a visit to the famous mushroom caves if so wished)
Days 14 - 17 : half-board accommodation in the youth hostel at Amboise. Visit the châteaux of Chenonceau, Amboise, the Clos Lucé (Da Vinci's last home), the gardens of Villandry a troglodyte village, and the town of Tours.
Direct return to airport by coach.

for a group of 30 students plus 3 teachers free of charge
The first option : 14 days : 1100 euros per student
The second option 17 days : 1400 euros per student
These costs are for your stay in France : all travel arrangements and costs to France are your responsibility. We come into the picture the moment you arrive in France!
